Ribery and Olic shucked defending champions: Bayern Munich beat beat Manchester United 2-1 at home.

In the champions league quarter finals 1st leg Bayern Munich beat Manchester United 2-1 at home with the goals from Frank Ribery and Ivica Olic.This match was almost a replay of 1999 champions league final which was won by Red Devils 2-1 in the injury time.The hosts came in to the match without their ace player Arjen Robben and the had the most disastrous start to the game ever in the Champions League.They conceded their first goal only 2minutes into the game.The goal was scored from a free kick almost from the right corner which was taken by Nani.He assisted Wayen Rooney as his shot was deflected and gone to unmarked Rooney who scored the goal with his swinger.Gary Neuville looked to continue his fantastic defending against the Bavarians ace Ribery as he did it against Ronaldinho in the knockout round.But in the 20th minute the Frenchman took advantage of the foul from Scholes and cruised his way through to goal but his shot was saved by United keeper Edwin Van der Sar.From that moment the Bavarians start dominating the game in terms of possession but not able to score till half time.
From the beginning of the second half Munich looked more energetics and created a lot of chances.On the 72nd minute Hamid Altintop created a fantastic goal by beating three uited defenders which was saved by the keeper.On the 77th minute Gary Neuville was booked with a yellow card as tried to stop the ball with his hand.From the resulting free kick Ribery scored the equalizer with a deflection from Rooney which left Van der Sar unmoved.From the beginning to the end the Bavarians looked more energetic and created a lots of chances.On the 87th minute Rooney almost scored the second as he found himself through,but Demichelis came to the rescue of the Germans and won the ball with a fantastic tackle.
The injury time was found to be crucial for the German Giants as they scored their second goal by the help of some sloppy defending from Manu defenders.Ivica Olic scored on the 93rd minute by winning the ball from Evra and sending Van der Sar on the opposite side on the shot.At the end of the match Rooney received an ankle injury.Although Munich won the match 2-1 but Manchester United will have an away goal advantage on the second leg.The stars of the match can be named as Frank Ribery and Altintop.
