Bayern's ace Arjen Robben came to the rescue as they beat ACF Fiorentina on away goals(4-4)-
On the cold and windy night at Italy Cesare Prandelli's home side played well against Lousi Van Gaal's side to secure a win but not able to prevent the away side from scoring away goals which costs them the quarter final spot. The Italian side ACF Fiorentina who were suffering a very poor form as they had lost seven out of there last nine matches had nothing except champions league to as they are currently on the 11th position in Sere-A.After losing the first leg away from home 2-1 could have gone through easily by preventing Bayern Munich from scoring and scoring one home side goal which they did on the night as well.
Fiorentina started the game well with the 4-2-3-1 formation having Gilardino at the front and able to block the two Munich aces Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery. After the 28th minute with the help from the poor goal keeping from Butt the Peruan international Juan Vargas scored a fantastic goal after missing his first one very closely from the 40 yard free kick. The two Munich screamers tried hard to beat the defenders but unable to do so as the slippery field was causing more trouble then the marking.Till the 1st half the Italian side had the advantage of one away goal with the scores level at 2-2 in both legs as the unlucky Robben missed an easy opportunity of equaliser on the 37th minute.
Coming in to the second half just after nine minutes Jovetic who had scored twice against Liverpool scored once again making the home sides dream came true. But just after 6 minutes Van Bommel scored a fantastic goal from out side of the D with a skillful assist from Frank Ribery. The Montenegro international again gave Fiorentia the lead by scoring his brace in the match. But Bayern's ace again come into act as Robben scored the second goal creating space for himself and thrashing a left footed shot into the net.
The match finished with the Italian side winning the match which had gone useless as they lost it on away goals to German giants.
